Shot One

Rollback Networking implementation

My second project working as a freelance programmer, I was hired to adapt a game in development, Shot One, so it could use Rollback for online play. 

To sum it up, rollback networking makes online play feel seamless, like having the other player there by your side. In most cases there's no apparent lag of any kind, feels like magic!

My responsabilities were:

  • Adapting the preexisting code to work with rollback.
  • Implementing local rollback functionality.
  • Add P2P multiplayer to the game using rollback netcode.
  • Connect players through the steamworks API.

This project was a huge challenge, but also a learning opportunity and I got to work with a great team full of interesting people.
